A Bounce rate is an SEO term used in web traffic analysis. It represents the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing a single page.

A high bounce rate can be an indication that your site is not engaging to your visitors and they leave without viewing any of your other pages.

There are various factors that can contribute to this:

Slow Load Time – if it takes too long for the site to load, users will just leave and go elsewhere

Misleading Title Tag and/or Meta Description –   The site content should match the title/description of the site. If you want to find site for “Home construction in Nassau county” and the site that comes up is for  “Commercial  construction in Montana” then the visitor will leave the page quickly

Too Much Clutter – a site that has over the top animations or too many ads can turn a visitor off

Bad Content – if you content has misspellings/ bad grammar or text that is hard to read, visitors will not be impressed and will head on over to another site

Single Page Website – since most of the content is on one page, the bounce rate will be higher

To help reduce the bounce rate always check that your website loads quickly, is free of annoying ads,  pop-ups and animations, and has relevant content throughout the site.
