When I was asked to be an honoree for this year’s Suffolk Y JCC Golf & Pickleball Outing, I did not hesitate. The mission of the Suffolk Y JCC aligns deeply with my personal commitment to Holocaust education, Israel awareness, and combating antisemitism—three causes that have guided my work in both professional and personal life.

My connection to the SYJCC began more than 25 years ago. First as a new parent and now as a proud board member, I witness firsthand how this organization fosters education, community, and resilience. From programs that teach future generations about the lessons of the Holocaust to initiatives that strengthen the Jewish connection to Israel and critical programs designed to educate today’s youth and combat antisemitism on Long Island, the SYJCC plays an essential role in preserving our history, identity, and values.

My connection to the JCC life runs even deeper. My father was a member of the inaugural building committee for The Friedberg JCC, and I grew up attending summer camp at the former South Shore Y Day Camp, now the Friedberg JCC Camp. These early experiences helped shape my strong connection to Jewish communal life.

Through my work with UJA, JNF-USA, and JCRC-LI, I have dedicated my time to ensuring that Jewish heritage and education remain strong pillars in our community. As Co-Chair of the UJA Leadership Council for Long Island Holocaust Education and a dedicated supporter and committee member of Suffolk Y JCC’s Names, Not Numbers®—a program that engages teens in Holocaust education through research, interviews, video production, and film editing—I am committed to ensuring these stories are never forgotten. With in-laws who are Holocaust survivors, Doris and Meir Usherovitz, I deeply understand the importance of teaching history as a tool to fight hate. Supporting the SYJCC’s efforts ensures that these missions are not only preserved but also expanded beyond the doors of the Suffolk Y JCC.

The Suffolk Y JCC Golf & Pickleball Outing is more than just a day of sport—it is a celebration of community, a statement of resilience, and a commitment to a stronger future. It is a chance to come together, enjoy a day of camaraderie, and, most importantly, support an institution that continues to make a meaningful impact on Jewish life and beyond.
